It is with sadness that we farewelled our Contemporary teacher Sean at the start of Term 2. Sean has taught many generations of DC students over the years. His hard work and dedication will be missed, as well as the beautiful routines he created for our students. We wish Sean all the best in his future endeavours.
As of Week 2, Term 3, we will bid Jacqui a fond farewell. Jacqui has taught many genres and age groups over the years and her love, guidance and care for the students will be greatly missed. Jacqui is very sad to be going, but her own company, The Pilates Class, has been so successful she has made the decision to stop teaching in other studios to focus solely on her new venture. Amber, Emily and Holli will be taking over Jacqui's classes.
Welcome back to our very own Taylor Sparke who has been travelling to places far and wide and dancing with the prestigious Royal Caribbean Cruises. Our students have missed Taylor and I am sure they will be excited to see her when we get back into the studios. Taylor will be teaching Monday Contemporary and Friday Acro this year. Thank you to Miss Sophia for taking Taylor's Acro classes while she was away.
A warm welcome to Holli Hill who will be teaching Ballet and Conditioning at DC. Holli is currently completing her Higher Diploma in Dance at Etts Pro and is an experienced dancer and teacher. She is also completing her RAD Ballet studies in Advanced Two this year and will be an asset to our talented team!
Holly Cameron will be joining the ranks as a teacher and assistant on Wednesdays. Holly is currently completing her HSC and is a talented dancer and ballerina. She has achieved wonderful results with the RAD and will be a fantastic mentor to our young ballerinas.
Our ballet teacher Alana gave birth to a beautiful baby girl on Thursday 2nd July. Rosie Flynn Harrison weighed 3.6kgs and both mum and baby are doing well. Congratulations Alana, Sam and big brother Oliver!
BALLET EXAMS AND AWARDS
Miss Kelly who runs our ballet program has contacted the RAD and at this stage we have been able to hold our tentative dates for exams and awards, after the concert (late November through to early December). We have both made the decision to utilise the award system as a preference over the exam system for many of our ballerinas this year who have been affected by the lack of face-to-face lessons. We will be assessing the students early next term and we will email ballet parents with information and dates on exams, awards and compulsory workshops.
CHASING THE CHANNEL
Our very own DC dads, Luke Stewart and Quinn Darragh are attempting to swim the English Channel to raise funds to assist in the purchase of a neonatal ventilator for the Royal Hospital for Women NICU, which will help save the lives of over 600 critically ill babies .
