DC Uniform

At DC our uniform is compulsory. We encourage our students to take pride in their appearance during their classes and beyond. Teachers need to see the students bodies in order to correct their line and technique. We expect that our dancers will be in their DC uniform with the correct footwear at every class with their hair tied up in a bun. If you’d like to view the uniform requirements for each style of dance, please click on the uniform tab.

DC Movie Night

We are very excited to announce that we are holding a DC Movie Night for our annual fundraiser at the Ritz Cinema Randwick on Saturday 5th June from 5:30pm to 8:30pm. This is going to be a fun-filled night for all of our DC students with loads of fantastic lucky door prizes to give away. Tickets will go on sale early next term and further details will be published then. THIS IS A STRICTLY ‘KIDS ONLY’ EVENT…SORRY MUMS AND DADS!

Ballet Awards & Exams

In 2021, our Dance Chora Ballerinas will be doing their RAD Ballet Awards and Exams early in Term 4 and for the very first time, we will be offering the class award for Grade 1 ballerinas! The RAD examination and class award is a challenging yet rewarding process for students as It gives them a goal to work towards and helps secure the technical foundations for all genres of their dance. The improvements we have witnessed in our award and exam students are astounding. From their technique, strength and musicality, to body and self-control, the progress is undeniable. Unfortunately parents and carers will not be allowed inside the building at any time. We ask that you adhere to this request so that Randwick Council will allow us to operate. Drop off and pick up points for 2021 are:

Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday: side gate entry/exit

Tuesday: front door entry/exit

Thursday: front door entry/exit from 3:45-5:30pm, then side gate entry/exit from 5:30pm onwards.

DC staff will be at both entry/exit points to greet or dismiss students.

The use of toilets will be strictly limited. Please ensure your dancer has already used the toilet at home/school before they arrive, so that we can save the facilities for those that really need it. Toilets cannot be used as changerooms. These directives have come from The Office of Sport and AUSDANCE NSW and we must adhere to them.

Unfortunately, students walking to DC directly from school will need to be changed into their dance gear before they arrive (see above) as they cannot come into the building before their scheduled lesson time. Unfortunately we will not be offering school pick up for SMM students in 2021.  We hope that SMM parents will be able to assist one another in walking children up to DC.

Until things change, parents will need to make alternative arrangements as we cannot have students waiting inside the building for their class to start. Our COVID-SAFE plan is based on student numbers and the 4 square metre ruling and we cannot make any exceptions. PLEASE DO NOT DROP OFF YOUR DANCER EARLIER THAN THE SCHEDULED START TIME.

You can read about the 4 square metre rule HERE

We truly love that for many of our teen and senior dancers, DC is a place to: congregate with friends, catch up before and after class, eat together outside and relax on the steps. Unfortunately Term 3 is going to be very different. We can't do all of these things just yet, so please ensure your dancer arrives no earlier than their scheduled start time. If they have a break at DC, they can wait out the back of the main hall with Trudi :)

Please ensure that your dancer has a small dance bag with only the essentials. It would be appreciated if school bags could be left at home where possible.

The DC canteen will not be operating. Please ensure that your dancer has their own water bottle.

We have collated this information and we will ensure that your dancer knows where to sit and with what staff member. They will be well supervised.

DC will have signage in each entry way and room with visuals for kids about hygiene. Bloom's Chemist in Randwick have kindly donated hand sanitiser for our students and teachers. Everyone will be required to sanitize upon entry to the building as well as before and after class.

In class, students will be reminded to avoid close proximity to other people and practice good hygiene. In shared entry ways, students will be prompted to stay 1.5m apart.

Rooms will be sanitized before and after use along with ballet barres, mats and turning boards. The use of other equipment such as thera bands, balls and blocks will be stopped for the time being.

Do not let your child come to dancing if they are showing any symptoms
or are generally feeling unwell.
These include: Fever / Sore throat / Fatigue /Difficulty breathing
• If on arrival to DC your child's temperature is more than 38 you will be called to collect your child.
• You will then be asked to obtain a
COVID-19 clearance from one of the free testing clinics in the
eastern suburbs or a doctors certificate before returning to classes.
